Camp Director

Job Title: Summer Camp Site Director

Mandatory Staff Training:
June 2nd – June 6th, 2025


Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Regional Camp Director, the Summer Camp Site Director is responsible for overseeing all Summer Camp operations at their designated site. This includes ensuring the delivery of high-quality and safe camp programs, managing staff, and bringing creativity and energy to the camp environment. The Site Director will be expected to maintain excellent communication with families, staff, and other TFT team members while ensuring smooth and effective day-to-day camp operations.


Primary Job Functions:

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Manage all Summer Camp operations with visible leadership and presence throughout the day to ensure smooth operations.
    • Oversee camp staff to maintain high standards of professionalism, adherence to safety protocols, and program consistency.
  • Safety & Program Delivery:
    • Continuously monitor safety and performance standards, including equipment, facilities, and systems.
    • Ensure that all children are actively engaged in camp activities and are supervised appropriately at all times.
  • Customer Service & Communication:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for families and campers, addressing concerns and ensuring timely communication with parents.
    • Maintain effective and clear communication with camp staff, volunteers, and the TFT support team, ensuring proper coordination of camp supplies and resources.
  • Staff Supervision & Training:
    • Train, manage, and support staff members, ensuring they are equipped to lead and supervise campers safely and effectively.
    • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
  • Administrative & Operational Tasks:
    • Ensure the camp maintains professional standards, including uniform adherence, cleanliness, and adherence to TFT’s code of conduct.
    • Oversee logistical elements of camp programming, ensuring that all activities run smoothly and resources are available when needed.
  • Camp Representation:
    • Represent Tree Frog Treks professionally through your communication, dress, and leadership both with the team and in interactions with campers and families.
    • Respond promptly to requests, inquiries, and feedback, ensuring that issues are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Experience & Education:
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in childcare operations, management, or supervisory roles.
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing innovative children’s programs or camps.
    • A love for working with children and experience caring for kids ages 3 to 13.
    • Proven ability to train, supervise, and manage staff effectively.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
    • Excellent verbal communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Professional, friendly demeanor and exceptional customer service skills.
    • Self-motivated, responsible, and dependable with a proactive approach.
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Comfortable working with computers and managing scheduling and communication tools.
    • Must be CPR certified (or willing to obtain certification before the start of camp).

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Environment:
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions (wind, rain, fog, sun, etc.).
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in work environment and unexpected challenges.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
    • Required to remain on your feet for extended periods and engage in active supervision of children.
    • Occasional extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, may be required.
  • Interpersonal Interaction:
    • Daily contact with campers, parents, staff, and the public. Must be able to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.

Compensation:

  • Weekly Pay: $1,600
