Job Summary:
The Animal Care Assistant at Tree Frog Treks plays a vital role in supporting the Animal Care Director during the summer months. This seasonal position requires a passion for animals, strong work ethic, and the ability to assist with various tasks related to animal care and facility maintenance. Reporting directly to the Animal Care Director, the Animal Care Assistant contributes to the overall well-being of the animals and ensures the smooth operation of Frog Hall.

Animal Care Support:
- Assists in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of all animals, including feeding, monitoring health, and providing enrichment activities.
- Aids in implementing animal care protocols, including temperature and humidity checks, habitat cleaning, and waste disposal.
- Assists with the maintenance of clean and sanitary living environments for animals, including enclosure cleaning and substrate changes.
- Helps acquire necessary supplies efficiently and assist in inventory management.
- Assists in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of all animals, including feeding, monitoring health, and providing enrichment activities.

Facility Maintenance:
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness and safety of facilities, including trash removal and basic sanitary measures.
- Supports equipment maintenance and repairs as directed by the Animal Care Director.
- Assists in restocking essential items such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.

Educational Support:
- Support educational programming by assisting with animal encounters and presentations as directed by the Animal Care Director.
- Assist in training staff and volunteers on proper animal handling techniques and safety protocols.
- Help maintain accurate records of animal usage and participate in educational outreach activities as needed.

Summer Camp Support:
- Follow the direction of the Animal Care Director in coordinating animal activities during summer camp sessions.
- Assist in transporting animals to camp sites and providing supervision during "Animal Time" activities.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization of animal-related materials and equipment used during camp sessions.

- Basic knowledge of animal care principles and a demonstrated passion for working with animals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions from the Animal Care Director.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

- Exposure to moderate noise levels and cleaning chemicals.
- Work both indoors and outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions (wind, rain, fog, sun, etc.).
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in work environment and unexpected challenges.
- Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry moderate loads, up to 45 pounds, and assist with tasks such as habitat maintenance and waste disposal.
- Comfort working in close proximity to animals and potentially hazardous situations.
- Interpersonal Interaction:
- Daily contact with campers, parents, staff, and the public. Must be able to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
Compensation:
- Weekly Pay: $XXX
